Unlike most of the Westinghouse-made cia russian mosin nagant 7.62x54r we find in the US, this is a very interesting Finnish capture. New England Westinghouse, along with Remington U.M.C., was contracted by Imperial Russia to manufacture the Mosin Nagant Model 1891 rifle to complement its production of the weapon for use in World War I. Both companies manufactured significant quantities of these rifles before problems arose with Russian procurement. The system and the United States’ involvement in World War I put an end to production for the Russians. Interestingly, both companies also manufactured these Mosin Nagants for contracts in the United States: 200,000 were supplied by Westinghouse and 78,950 by Remington U.M.C. This particular rifle is one of the first production rifles for the Russian contract.

This rifle would have been used in World War I and, at some point, would have been captured by the Finnish Army and resupplied for use during World War II. The patina of the rifle, overall, is nice and consistent; It certainly looks better than you would expect from a WWI and WWII combat-used rifle made in 1915.

As you can see from the pictures, the blue finish on the receiver, magazine housing and barrel is very strong. The caliber of this Westinghouse M91 is overall in very good condition. The bore is bright with crisp rifling, and there are no bulges, dents, or other major imperfections visible.

This CIA Russian mosin nagant 7.62x54r would make an excellent marksman if the new owner so desires. All controls on this N.E.W. M91s are in perfect working order, as is the original adjustable rear sight, which the Finns have dialed back into Metros. The latch operates smoothly by hand and fits perfectly into the battery. The stocks supplied by Finland were cut and joined with a finger design as this was found to reduce flexing and stress on the stocks when used in the extremely cold temperatures commonly found in Finland. This rifle has rounded finger joints, indicating that it is a wartime-produced rifle from World War II.

The Buy Glock 17L Online stock shows wear typical of surplus military rifles but has nice color and grain. The magazine floor plate and buttplate are not numbered. All in all, this is a very good example of a sparse variation. An investment-worthy m91 30 Russian mosin nagant rifle 7.62x54r with a very interesting American, Russian, and Finnish military history. It would be an excellent rifle for a military collection, as it likely saw action in two world wars and on multiple fronts.
