Much like our beloved 1903A3, Mosin Nagant 91 30 Tula 1942, M1 carbines and M1 Garands, the Russian Army’s Mosin-Nagant M91/30 rifle helped defeat the Axis powers in World War II. From the arsenals of the Ukrainian government comes this very attractive example of the main battle rifle of the Red Army of World War II. The manufacturer of the Arrow Center Red Star camera brand was Tula Arms Plant in the Russian city of the same name. It was manufactured in 1937, the year the Nazis began movements against the Czechs, and Stalin’s NKVD carried out similar movements against Polish nationalists. Of course, he served in World War II, probably in the Ukraine. The type is a bolt action rifle. This rifle is imported, stamped in the breech area and renumbered by its registration serial number.

The original numbers match on the bolt and receiver, and the magazine has been renumbered, but they should no longer be used as serial numbers. The construction is entirely made of blued steel, with white steel screws. The bolt is pulled from the Mauser cocker type with a 90-degree turn, and the firing mechanism will rest with one turn of the pressed trigger. The stock is a two-piece beveled shield of Russian hardwood and steel with tongue-style leather sling slots.

The caliber is Glock 26 – 9mm, Mosin Nagant 91 30 Tula 1939, one of the most abundant and effective hunting cartridges in the world. The magazine is a straight-line steel box type with a rotating floor plate, designed for 5-round extractor clips, although not necessary. The capacity is 5+1 rounds. The barrel measures 29 inches, 1:10, with 4 right grooves. The sights are flat steel military square rear notch, calibrated from 100 to 2000 meters. The front sight is a blade type protected with a steel hood. The front sight interlocks with the bayonet fitting and serves as a lug; it is the Original issue, but a mismatched 17-inch 4-flute bayonet is included. The empty weight is 8.8 pounds, with the center of gravity in the chamber.

The overall length is 48 1/2 inches, with a pull length of 13 1/4 inches from the face of the trigger to the center of the curved steel buttplate. This Kimber Aegis Elite Pro rifle has been professionally reconditioned by a Ukrainian gunsmith, with excellent preservation of the markings. The original cartridge is Ukrainian. Surface detractions are minimal; we rate it Excellent Refinish, 90 percent or better. The photographs should be enough for our distinguished buyers to judge the final ratings for themselves. The bore is very good, and it has an itchy texture and ridged grooves but fully pronounced lands throughout. The chamber and mechanism are bright, clean and excellent. We are offering this attractive, useful and collectible Mosin Nagant 91 30 Tula 1938 for only $159.00. Definitely C&R eligible.
